Cloud Migration Increases ROI and Productivity for Manufacturer
overview
The client, an extreme-duty machine manufacturer, started as a single factory in 1958 and recently began to experience rapid growth leading to 20+ manufacturing facilities worldwide, over 10,000 employees, and a dealer network spanning 136 countries. The North American outfit was stretched thin as they relied upon an on-premises Windows file server that had amassed more than 8 terabytes of data. Knowing their current situation was unsustainable, they began to look for alternatives and discovered that the AWS cloud offered solutions to even their most pressing concerns.

challenges
Lack of a bid assessment method resulted in decreased productivity and stagnant win-rate
The client had limited product information for business operations and duplicate information without tools to update uniformly at an international level. They experienced poor performance and outages due to integration issues and had multiple PoFs stemming from localization issues between the HQ and US outfit. There was a need for immediate ROI to support the US product demand.
solution
Integrate targeted, filterable intelligence dashboard from current and former bid data to the existing CRM
With minimal disruption to the client’s existing processes and staff, PREDICTif conducted a phased data migration exactly duplicating the on-prem network and file servers to the AWS Cloud. A new FSx for Windows File Server (FSx) instance within the AWS cloud was built and all artifacts were migrated. Incoming data streams were normalized with added security.
outcome
Elevated efficiency, overall cost reduction, more accurate demand forecasting
The client’s marketing team was able to access assets from on-prem workstations with added security. AWS’s pay-as-you-go pricing allowed them to stabilize and lower the cost of housing data, providing an immediate ROI. With PREDICTif’s ongoing training, the client can avoid onboarding new technical staff and turn control over to a few select users.
